Printing
Can I print on my printer even though the software is running from your
servers?
Yes. Our system maps your print drivers so that you can print on your
printer. If you use a network printer, it will work with that as well.
I am having trouble printing. eSERVER is not recognizing my printer(s).
eSERVER prints through your computer to most any printer available to
you locally. The first step in troubleshooting any difficulties is to
try printing locally. If you are unable to print locally, you must fix
that first. Once you are able to print locally but not through eSERVER,
check the following:
- Are you using a switch with multiple printers? - Set the switch
to the desired printer, test a local document, and then logon to eSERVER.
- Are you sharing the port with any other devices? - Resolve port
errors locally, then test a local document, and then logon to eSERVER
There needs to be a clean line of communication from your system to the
printer. Make sure you do not have any erroneous printers installed on
your system and that the drivers on your system are correct as well. Check
the printer manufacturer’s web page for updated drivers.
I can print locally but I cannot print through eSERVER.
New eSERVER Users
By default, we support any printer and drivers that come with the Windows
2000 operating system. We are able to manually add a printer driver
if necessary. If you need us to install a driver, send the exact name
of the printer AS IT APPEARS IN your print subfolder (Start > Settings
> Printers) on your local machine to support@eserver.com
Existing eSERVER Users
If you have a new printer that fails to map, send the exact name of
the printer AS IT APPEARS IN the print subfolder (Start > Settings
> Printers) on your local machine to support@eserver.com
If an existing printer is no longer printing through eSERVER, but you
can print locally, then the following steps should resolve the issue:
- Logoff completely from eSERVER (Start > Logoff), reboot locally,
log back on and test printing again.
- If (1) fails to correct the issue, open the print utility within
the eSERVER session: (Start > Programs > Utilities > Printers)
and try to Connect the printer(s) by right-clicking the printer and
choosing Connect.
- If both of these fail or you have a print job that is stick in queue,
contact Support.
NOTE: If you disconnect from eSERVER (by simply clicking the X on your
screen) rather than logging off and then reconnect from a different workstation
than the original computer, you will still be mapped to the original computer’s
printers (if any).
Here are printers that eSERVER does NOT support in the shared environment:
- Hewlett Packard OfficeJet G85
- Lexmark Z11
If you have a dedicated server, we can install whatever drivers you
desire.
